Hi!

I recently bought a new gaming computer, but it doesn't seem to be able to run on high or ultra settings on various games even if other people with the same type of computer can do this. I get around 10-20 fps on my games (such as thief 2014 and dragon age inquisition), which is extremely low and as you can imagine; extreme lag

I've updated all my drivers, but they all seem to have the latest updates so I'm beginning to wonder if the PSU is too low or if the computer arrived with faulty components

System Specs:

Operating System: Windows 10 64-bit
Motherboard: MSI Z170A Krait Gaming
Processor: Intel Core i7, 6700, 3,4 GHz, 8MB Cache
Memory: 16 GB, 2x8192MB; DDR4 2133Mhz, Corsair VENGEANCE LPX RED
GFX: GeForce GTX 970,4 GB, GDDR5
SSD (x1): 250 GB, SSD Samsungs 850
HDD (X1): 3000 GB, 7200rpm, 64MB Cache
Cooler: Corsair H80
PSU: 600W, BeQuiet Kraft

You're going to need to report CPU/GPU temps, check for malware, and stress test CPU/GPU/RAM. I don't think your PSU wattage is the problem. It sounds like this is a pre-built system. Can you reach out to the manufacturer for support?

Edit: I don't mean you necessarily have to download Prime95 and Furmark for CPU/GPU stress testing (although it's not a bad idea); you really just need to monitor your temps while your gaming to see if anything is getting too hot.

The psu is not the problem, I have a 620W psu for the 6700k/gtx970 with no issues. I doubt it is the 20W difference.

Download MSI afterburner to check data ingame. Does your GPU in fact get enough power ? is it overheating ? Is it being actually used ? What about your cpu ? If this is a fresh install system then it might be as benign as a badly seated / disloged / miswired component.
