My Case is the NZXT Phantom 530. It's typically meant for water cooling your CPU, but since I'm not overclocking, I decided to go with air cooling the CPU with the Hyper 212 Evo. However, the very top of my case does not have a dust filter, so dust can easily get inside through the top and accumulate inside my case. I thought about just getting a dust filter to fix this, but since I'm going with the AMD R9 390 which runs pretty hot, I thought I would just put two exhaust fans on top instead to push the dust out.
Here is the what I came up with. I can either do 140mm or 200mm fans on top. The Front and Rear fans are already on the case so I plan on buying these extra fans separately -
My problem with this design is that the front exhaust fan on the top of the case may take away needed air for my CPU cooler. As you can see though, I have many options for intake fans on the bottom and front of my case. I thought, maybe I don't need them...So I tried to simplify the design a bit to get air going into the CPU cooler -
Now the problem with this design..I'm afraid air being taken in from the front top intake may instead be re-directed a bit to the back top exhaust. Another problem I have with this is the fact that this front top intake will take in quite a bit of dust.
My case is the NZXT Phantom 530 (Full Tower), here are the possible variations of fans I can use:
Top:
3 x 120mm Fans
2 x 140mm Fans
2 x 200mm Fans
Bottom:
2 x 120mm Fans
Rear:
1 x 140mm Fan (existing one)
1 x 120mm Fan
Front:
1 x 200mm Fan (existing one)
2 x 140mm Fans
2 x 120mm Fans
I can also add a fan inside the case at an angle that hooks to one of the Hard Drive cages, but I know this will get in the way of my video card so it's out of the question. If anyone can give me their opinions of the 2 concepts I have or maybe offer an alternative. I'm going to be buying fans in bulk so I can go with whatever. I just want good airflow without dust getting inside of my case so easily.
Thank You.
