Should disabling Turbo core on fx 8320 + M5a99fx pro r2.0 only run 4 true cores?

I have disabled Turbo in bios thinking this would shutdown the 4 logical cores and give me a full 4 physical to experiment with.

Thus said my computer has been undergoing CRAZY problems I think are ASUS mobo related, I am reaching out for help one more time before i nuke the board with an AK on the range, literally,
and ASUS will see a mega bashing post with high details from me on several forums for receiving literally no support on my 3yr warranty.

I am thinking the bios are showing change, but not responding to the change.

BEFORE YOU POST!!!!!!!!!! READ PLZ !!!!!!

Do not ask me what I have and have not tried, I have literally tried everything you can think of besides a PSU test, wich I have my Innova 3320 ready right now to proceed with that.

Drivers, OS reinstall, hardware swaps, diagnostics on all hardware, etc., etc., etc.

ASUS claims 3yr warranty, but I am not paying shipping 3x now and giving them a credit card so they can freeze my account and send me a REFURB product when I have paid for A NEW PRODUCT!!!

I guess if you feel the need ask anything you wish and I will reply asap, I am just tired of problems when I have paid for quality products and have not skimped one bit!!!!

disabiling turbo only stops it from boosting up but you can definitley disable different cores. disable 1,3,5,8 and it will make each module basically dedicate the ipc. Can you elaborate on the problems. It should be in the bios under advanced something that says core on/off

As I have stated before, all tests pass and system says all is well.

I have protested my M5A99FX r2.0 and FX 8320 combo have ran TOO slow for so long, even upgraded to a kingston hyper X
ssd to prove I was correct.

Hyper installed running stock and only League of Legends open this occurs, 8gb ram stock settings 1600, asus strix GTX 970 balls to the wall.....

and i get this crap.....

Almost everything I do with this cpu just hangs stutters more like a lag or heat issue.

I have 100mbps/50up and tru 10mbps/5up or so...

I just dont see how league could pull so much cpu even on load, and if it did for a few seconds without hanging I would not be so worried. Sometimes stutter occurs in animations and videos, but sometimes it runs ok..

I guess from now on Intel only.

If it is software related it is a HUGE issue, not a small one.

I have re-installed OS several times, drivers + rollback + diff ones.

As for the cores i figured 4 logical+4physical with Turbo turned off would turn to 4 physical only on stupid conclusions.

As for the advanced settings they are still very poor.

Core on off options go like this

2nd core Enable/Disable
3+4 Enable/Disable
5+6 Enable/Disable
7+8 Enable/Disable

.... It seems like disable will turn off both cores... via just 2 // or 3+4 // or 5+6 etc. ........... stumped like hell.

Hoping maybe turning Logical on only and retrying will shock something or prevent lag like issues when mid oc'd somehow.

So stumped and THANK YOU!!!!! for the help.

My absolute worst case is I dish out to upgrade to a intel combo i7.

Sad I figured amd for the buy would be amazing for programming + rendering designs for games in the future.

Very informative, If the board did go bad I will assume this CPU is intact and still very much alive.

I was assuming it went bad since my laggy like issues.... maybe a chipset? Bad cap or something with VRMS im not seeing >.>

Keep with me please I am kind enough to wait, and will give any info needed.

ok well do me a favor go into your start up settings and find out what is starting with the pc then i want you to observe what happens every time you start a new program write each one down and restart to start another. Also start the computer and noting else then start lol and tell me what happens bud.

Ok here's a SS, the unchecked boxes I have changed and applied to not startup to prevent conflicts in testing.

This CPU should never max out launching a game like LOL..... never ever, even on max settings at 1600x900 resolution (my max)

I restart to the same effect, could be a bad board, could be TERRIBLE ASUS driver support maybe too.

I highly doubt it's GPU related as I have swapped it all before and clean uninstall with DDU before new card is placed.

This is a new system tho rebooted and redone with this ASUS Strix 970 and has not been modified since last reformat or tampered with to exclude other questions that may arise like mixing drivers and whatnot.

why cant I direct link images?

I am leaning more towards bad Mobo or driver support from ASUS... it just makes more sense...

Starting up anything responds with glitch like launching.

Videos
Flash
Games
Major software like adobe photoshop/premiere

I am ordering a new motherboard, if that won't fix it ill just dive deeper into pocket and go with an i7/mobo combo deal and switch completely.

Maybe then I will find my real answer to flame/rage whoever needs it...... I don't want to post an article on a brand that isn't responsible due to me not wanting to fully test and find the real cause.

3x OS formats and reinstalls to different HDD's + ssd should prove the software isn't the problem.

EDIT: unless ASUS drivers are wrongly posted as Win7 64 and are in fact not.
