Download more than one file at the same time. Is it bad to the hard drive?

It was said frequent reads and writes to hard drives like Bittorrent would cause wear to the hard drive and probably shorten the service life of the hard drive.

How about simultaneously downloading more than one file at the same with browser or other file manager that is not Bittorrent? Let say for example 6-8 files at the same time. The hard drive might have to write to 6-8 files at the same time, could this cause more serious wear to the hard drive?

Solution
The hard drive writes no files at all. Windows caches all read write operations in ram and writes blocks to the hard drive. And most of this read write operations are caused by windows itself and have nothing to do with the downloaded files. So the answer is no, it has no effect.

How about Bittorrents then? I think many of us have heard about a saying that frequent use of BT could cause wear. Or is it only a legend?

If you hear your hdd constantly working, more ram may help Windows to cache the operations. In general power cycles (switch it off and on) will harm way more.
