Hi,
Hope you're doing well!
I'm having trouble connecting to a LAN game (Age of Empires) after I changed my network setup.
Previously the network looked like this...
8 Computers >> 1 Switch
I assigned static IPs and default subnets to the computers and worked perfect.
However when I connect this switch to my other switch/router (I did this so the computers could access the internet and that works fine now_, I'm unable to connect the game properly. The game is not visible in the LAN menu or via direct IP connection.
Network looks like this now:
8 Computers >> Switch >> Switch >> Router
Internet works fine and so far several other games I've tested on the LAN function properly including older games like Counterstrike and Starcraft.
Within the AOE hosting console the Host IP shows correctly as 192.168.1.60, but the game isn't visible on other computers on the network. However if I take one of the other computers and set it to static IP / remove Gateway information it's at least able to see the game listed, but it lags out on the connection.
There is no need for the computers to access the internet during this game, is there a way to have the network adapter just switch to alternate settings when the program loads that just reverts to the switch?
Or does someone have any suggestions they can recommend?
Thank you very much for the help.
