Specs:
Case: Thermaltake core v21
I5 6600K
ASRock Z170M Pro4s
Crucial Ballistix 2x8 2400Mhz
EVGA Supernova Nex 650W
+fans
+ EVGA 980 ti, not installed at this time

Connected to monitor via hdmi

It turns on and the fans run just fine, the 980 ti's light turns on too when I previously tested that. I've tried running it both inside and outside the case. Neither time it worked. I've cleared the CMOS and tried both sticks in every slot individually. I've made sure the power supply cords are plugged in properly, still nothing.

Is it just a bad motherboard? I replaced the one I had yesterday with the same issue. If it is, can anyone recommend a mobo about the same price?

Exactly the same thing here. Any solution or just a bad board?

Hi! Same issue here. Just set up a new build.
◦ ASRock Z170M Pro4S
◦ Corsair Carbide 300R Case (CC-9011017-WW)
◦ Antec EA-550 Platinum 550 Power Supply
◦ Intel Core i5-6500 6M Skylake Quad-Core 3.2 GHz LGA 1151 65W (BX80662I56500)
◦ 2x G.SKILL NT Series 8GB 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM 2133 PC4 17000 (F4-2133C15S-8GNT)
◦ Samsung 850 EVO 500GB 2.5-Inch SATA III Internal SSD (MZ-75E500B/AM)
◦ BenQ GL2460HM 24" Monitor

I followed these steps:
◦ CPU connected, thermal paste applied, heat sink locked in
◦ CPU fan plugged in to CPU_FAN1
◦ case fans plugged in to CHA_FAN1 and CHA_FAN2
◦ case power/reset buttons and LEDs plugged in to PANEL1
◦ case headphone/mic plugged in to HD_AUDIO1
◦ RAM plugged in to DDR4_A2 and DDR4_B2
◦ SSD plugged in to SATA3_0
◦ power supply plugged in to ATXPWR1, ATX12V1, SSD, and graphics card
◦ power supply switched on and plugged in to wall
◦ mouse and keyboard plugged in to USB7 and USB8
◦ monitor plugged in to HDMI1 (also tried from graphics card)

When I press the case power button, the case power LED and case/CPU fans turn on. Nothing is displayed on the monitor, and there are no lights on the mobo itself. Tested the monitor and cable, they display HDMI fine on another machine.

How can I troubleshoot further?
Do I need to clear CMOS or do something with the battery? Didn't touch the CLRMOS1 jumper.

Thanks!

Forgot that! Updated. CPU fan was plugged in and also turns on.

Thanks for your assistance :)

UPDATE: Solved! Moved the RAM to A1-B1 (even though manual says priority 1 config is A2-B2) and it POSTs. Thanks for your help :D

I ran across this thread while experiencing the same issue yesterday after building my system (2x 8GB in A2/B2). It seems to have been resolved by a BIOS update. With HDMI connected, the machine refused to boot. With DVI connected, it booted fine. My board was delivered with 3.0 and upgrading to 3.5 solved the issue for me. I'm able to use both DVI and HDMI in a dual display setup, with my RAM in slots A2/B2.

I ran into this problem. Set up my mobo + CPU with 1 stick of RAM (Amazon's product description says you MUST have one 1 stick inserted on first use / after clearing CMOS). Everything ran fine. After putting my GPU in, I didn't get a display output from the mobo or the GPU. I cleared CMOS, put 1 Stick of RAM in the B1 slot - didn't work. Put it in the B2 slot - it worked.

So what I've learnt is: if you can't get a display output - remove GPU, clear CMOS, leave 1 stick of ram in slot B2, start up to bios.

Now to figure out how to get the GPU to play nice...

Were you able to figure it out? I've been fighting this issue all afternoon with no answer :(

I have it running with two DIMMS and video out the motherboard, but as soon as i put in the GPU, there is no picture output from the GPU or the motherboard.

Thanks ahead if you have any ideas-

Hey,
It's been a while since I had this issue so i'm struggling to remember how i fixed it. Have you tried resetting CMOS? I had to go back to basics with just CPU and 1 ram stick, then build up from there.

Help. Now, Ive tested the slots to try and get something. Nothing happens at all. I've got both HDMI and the other one plugged in,and the cables worked fine yesterday. Now nothing I've done so far has helped (I've mostly reassembled the whole machine).

Im using:
i5 intel core (Skylake)
No GTX for the time being
the Asrock z170 PRO4S
and a CorsAir CX600M

If it helps im using the Fractal Design Define R5

I've been having a similar issue. Tried a single stick of RAM in each slot in turn, no HDD / SSD connected, no GPU, reset CMOS.

Currently connected:

i5-6600k
1 stick of 8GB EVGA DDR4-3000 RAM in slot B2 (two sticks tried, in each slot individually)
Arctic i11 CPU cooler (whizzing round nicely)
Chassis fan(also rotating)
Novatech PSU

And that's about it. Power LED comes on on case, no output on screen. No built-in chassis speaker.

Anything else to try? I only have a TV, no monitor handy. Two different HDMI cables and two TV inputs tried. I've ordered a little speaker to see if I can hear any CMOS beeps!

I have the same issue!

All new hardwares:
Asrock H170M Pro4S
Intel i3-7100
1x 8GB DDR4 Kingston HyperX Fury 2133 ( sent back, and change to 2x4GB)
Sapphire 7850 2GB

With RAM inserted no beep, no signal on monitor, all fans, and SSD, HDD spins up, no POST...

Tried with only CPU -> 3 beeps ( requesting the RAM), inserting the RAM, clear CMOS, tried all 4 slots -> no beep, nothing, no signal...

Tried to search for bent pins on Mobo (CPU), but couldn't find any. Some websites say that no beeps with ram inserted means that RAM is shorting the PSU (thast why I sent it back to replace), but it's (should be) very rare.

Also Asrock webpage says i3-7100 cpu needs new bios v7.10, but how can I update the Bios without able to start the bios at all? :)

Any suggestion? Is it the Mobo? or the RAM? Could it be the bios upgrade...?

Thanks!
