Second router in a Lan to Lan connection does not assign Ip

Hi I just set up a lan to lan connection between my Tp-link and Belkin Router. The Tp link Router is the master router and the Belkin router is the slave. I want a connection between them to be such that the Internet does not disconnect when I move around the house and the connection switches between the routers. As far as I've understood I did the following:
I configured my master router to my ISP,
Changed the default gateway to 192.168.2.2
Set the channel to 3
Authentication to WPA2 PSK
Mode to 11bgn mixed
Channel Width is Auto
The DHCP range is between 192.168.2.100 to 192.168.2.199
The subnet is 255.255.255.0
Now I set my slave router to the same SSID, Password, Authentication type, subnet and set the channel to 8. I changed my slave's default gateway to 192.168.2.3 and disabled the DHCP.I ahve also disabled the firewall. The problem I'm facing now is that the second router is unable to assign IP address automatically. Every time I try to connect a device to the second router I get a failed to obtain an IP address. Also when I ping 192.168.2.3 I get 'Destination host is unreachable' when I'm connected to the Master(Tp-link 192.168.2.2) router while i get replies from 192.168.2.2. What have I configured wrong? Also when I assign a static IP to the device attempting to connect to the slave router, the connection is successful. How do I make the second router assign IP automatically?

Solution
Default gateway on the second router should be the first router (192.168.2.2).*
IP address of the second router should be 192.168.2.3.

Basically, for the purposes of setup, treat the second router as if it were a computer on your network.

* Unless the gateway on the first router is 192.168.2.1 (presumably your modem?). Then the gateway on the second router should also be 192.168.2.1. If you rmodem is acting as gateway, then neither of your routers is really routing.

I think I have the terminologies mixed up. I think I mixed up default gateway and Router IP.Let me give you the complete view for a better idea. I have a fiber Optic Connection and the Media Converter is connected to the WAN port in my Master Router(TP-Link).
My connection type is PPPoE,
VPI/VCI = N/A,
IP/Mask = 45.64.162.244 /32
the gateway is 202.94.66.254
as viewed on the status page under WAN of the Master Router. This Gateway is Provided by my ISP. Having these settings I set the master and slave router in the setting mentioned above. The IP of the master router is 192.168.2.2 and the IP of the slave router is 192.168.2.3. Also I do not see an option in the slave router where I can enter a Gateway. All I can change is the IP of the Router and the subnet and thus I changed the IP to 192.168.2.3. What should I do? Please advice.

Those are WAN settings. If your first router can access the Internet, then you have those set up correctly and they are irrelevant to your problem.

What are your LAN settings on the first and second router? Based on your title I assume you are connecting the two together with a network cable from one of the first router's LAN ports to one of the second router's LAN ports? The WAN port on the second router should be unused (in fact cover it up with tape so someone in the future doesn't try to use it).

It sounds like you have your first router acting as gateway. The 192.168.2.2 IP address is a bit unusual in that case. With a computer connected to the first router, can you try pinging 192.168.2.1 just to make sure there's nothing else on your network that you're missing? If there's no reply, then it does look like 192.168.2.2 is your gateway. The second router's LAN ports are probably acting as a switch, so can figure out the gateway for themselves. But as long as the IP address and subnet mask match, it should be able to contact the first router. The only problem I can think of is that you've plugged the network cable from the first router into the WAN port of the second router. It needs to go in a LAN port.

Edit: Go to the second router and try plugging in a laptop into the network cable coming from the first router. Just to make sure that cable is good and providing a working network connection.

The problem has been solved. Thank you so much Solandri for your invaluable input. What I was doing wrong was that I first set up the slave router, changed the IP and configured it to the setting I wanted(SSID, password etc) via my laptop(which was connected via a network cable) and then connected it to the network cable originating from my Master router. Now since my second router does not have an option to input the Default Gateway, whenever I reset the router and changed it's IP and then tried to access the router's page, the Router somehow input it's own IP as the default gateway. This was the cause of the issue. Now this time, I reset my slave router, changed it's IP and then without accessing it from my laptop proceeded directly to connect the LAN cable originating from my Master router. Then I proceeded to change the setting to my needs. Somehow this solved the problem.
Cheers Solandri.
