I've been getting windows pop ups since march 2015 saying that theres a problem and that i need to backup data. nothing has erased or corrupted from that harddrive and its been like that since march. it's my secondary 1TB hard drive where I keep my games, should I replace?

You can try running the diagnostic tool from the drive manufacturer.

CyrstalDiskInfo and other programs monitor several things including how much REPAIRING is happening. When the amount of repairing exceeds a rate deemed acceptable the drive is said to be FAILING.

So I would recommend getting another drive, then CLONE or COPY the data over. Perhaps get a 2TB model if you think you need the space.

You can WARRANTY the drive if you have warranty left, otherwise I'd keep it and use it for backup. Always assume any drive can fail at any time.

run the vendor test tools if it fails replace it. also email the vendor rma support see if the drive is under warranty and the errors showing are sings of a hard drive failing. all drives over time get bad spots..it when those spots hit a set size that a vendor says the drive needs to be replaced. when a drive is first formateed the vendor makes a defects list. of all of the drive known bad spots and masks them out. if new ones pop up that placed in what called a glist or grown list. whe nthe glist hits a set size the vendor will replace the drive as a failing drive.

Hi there Zombehh,

There are multiple bad sectors on the drive. You really need to back up the data stored on the drive as soon as possible as it can fail at any time. I doubt that a the drive would pass a brand specific test but yeah, you can just test it and RMA the drive in case it is under warranty.
