I'm planning on building a new gaming pc (I will also run AutoCAD 2004 and Microsoft office), and I'm trying to settle on a cpu. I would like to spend $600.00 or less on the cpu.

Doing some google searches got me to a large number of different suggestions, so I was wondering if anyone here could offer some guidance.

I would like this machine capable of running any game currently out there at the highest settings.

You could really get a processor far cheaper to be honest. You're probably looking at more RAM and such stuff for your benefits. An I7-6700K would be perfectly fine, or an I7-5820K. Even an I3 processor would be fine for what you do. Office and Autocad 2004 are not intense, and your drawings are small.

Mostly for work, but only 2D drawings. The vast majority of the drawings I work with are not very large.
