msi z97 pc mate bios updates?

I heard the bios updates are not stable and could fail a (hit or miss) and heard a failed bios update could ruin the mobo has anyone tried updating the mobo and is it usually successful?

If you are first time to do it, yes, it could hit or miss. If your PC runs fine you don't need to update the BIOS, because if you don't do it right, you will kill the MB, I mean the pc will not boot, after that you either try recovery the BIOS https://service.msicomputer.com/msi_user/support/TechFAQdetail.aspx?formid=3046 or replace the BIOS chip, or even buy the new MB.
We did lots of the BIOS updates for some reasons and we don't have problem at all, but if you don't feel comfortable to do it and the PC runs fine, don't try it.
