So I built a new pc (first time ) and since I used old parts from a old pc.the new pc booted up Windows Vista and when I put in the driver disk for the mother board(Gigabyte F2A68HM-DS2H)I install the cores install and then it says to reboot my pc but when it does it still doesn't have internet. Please help

Solution
Interesting. That motherboard does not appear to have Vista Drivers for LAN. I'd probably recommend attempting to download and install the Windows 7 LAN drivers from here.

Good afternoon,

Although unlikely to be the problem, try a different known working ethernet cable to rule that out. I imagine it is a driver problem? What Network Interface Card are you using?

Open Device manager and tell me what is has under network adapter? Also does it have a little yellow triangle or not?

A quick look on the Gigabyte website lists LAN drivers for that specific motherboard for Windows XP, 7, 8 and 10. But no Vista.

I'd try installing the drivers from the disk again, going through a custom installation, and looking for a driver named LAN.

I don't know why Gigabyte wouldn't have a download available for Vista though.

EDIT: I'd try my solution after you've tried Wolfs solution

the network adapter says Realtek RTL8168/8111 Family PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC (NDIS6.0) and yes it does have a yellow triangle
