I have a brand new micro sd card (Patriot 64 GB LX series) that shows up as 44.0 KB in windows.

I bought it from the store, it is not fake.

In my phone (android) it shows up the correct size but whenever I run it in windows it doesn't seem to want to work properly. I've tried formatting it in windows it says "Windows was unable to complete the format". I also tried the "SDFormatter" program, allowed format size adjustment, it says total space 32 KB.

I even tried command prompt, it says "diskpart has encountered an error: The drive cannot find the sector requested"

I'm thinking the android formatting screwed up the card perhaps? However my other card (16 GB) works fine in both my phone and pc.

What gives?

Only recent card reader support SD XC capabilities. If you are using card reader older than year or two, get a new one.. and while at this... Use your phone + cable data as storage, removing and inserting card to your phone will introduce wear and tear to the tflash contact.

This may sound odd. But the first thing you do is go back to the seller and explain the situation and maybe he/she can give you a replacement. If possible. You can also try and contact Patriot support line (if there is one and try form there).

I bought one the same time I bought the card. I ended up going back to the store and the guy tried another card and it had the same issue. But as a_en has said, maybe the reader just wasn't capable of reading it. Anyway, I got a Sony card. Thanks guys.
