I currently have an Intel core i7 3770k CPU overclocked to 4.2 GHz. My current graphics card is starting to slow down and I am looking into upgrading to a gtx 980 Ti but I am wondering whether my CPU will bottleneck my graphics card.
IMO I can't see a problem here, I think it will be able to cope if you're keeping that OC. From what I remember, Ivy Bridge can get a little bit higher OC than what you have now if you find it struggles a bit anyway, but it already seems sufficient enough.

Benchmark of all the different generations of i7 processors (all overclocked to 4.4ghz) with Titan X, you won't notice a major difference in most games, but you will see some FPS lost compared to the Skylake processors in few of the games they tested like Farcry 4 (30FPS), GTA V (20FPS), Crysis 3 (10FPS) they were all in the around 100 to 150 FPS range and most people play on 60 FPS, so won't matter for most people. For the 980ti you probably won't notice much difference.
Though I prefer not to answer thread piggybacking, this is a simple answer.
You are good to go, you just cant OC the processor. Thats the only difference.
