twice as much video ram. helps for games with more textures, and running at higher resolutions. i wouldn't recommend the 2gb card.

Higher ram helps with multiple monitors, higher resolutions, high intensive and realistic games and this is the direction most games are headed. For lower-mid power cards, 2Gb is fine, lacking the ability to give the ultra results in such intense graphics, but for higher end cards powerful enough, you're really better off not limiting the cards ability.
260x and below are good at 2Gb, 270-290 should be 3Gb, 280x + should be 4Gb+. Or thereabouts
