The Seagate SSHD only has around 8GB of NAND flash for cache. The Kingston V300 isn't my favorite drive since it now uses asynchronous flash and a SandForce SF-2281 controller. The controller writes random data, the same data you will cache, at a low speed when compared to other SSDs. Your combination is still faster than a SSHD drive for a few different reasons. The bandwidth is split between two sources and the dedicated SSD can cache more data.

If you want better performance from the SSD cache go for this drive: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820016001

The price is lower but the random incompressible performance is 3x better.
