New video card that fits in ASRock P67 EXTREME6 motherboard

I have an ASRock P67 EXTREME6 motherboard and an MSI Twin Frozr II Geforce 560 Ti 1GB video card. Has anyone with the same motherboard upgraded to a newer video card? Because of the layout of the motherboard, it appears as though the length and height of my current video card is the max it can handle. I was really hoping to get a 970, but it looks like standard version is too long and the short version is too tall. I really wish my motherboard had a better layout, but was hoping to replace the video card, without having to build a new system.

The slots havent changed, what do you mean about it not fitting? In the case?

You should be able to use any new graphics card (assuming your PSU has enough power). I would suggest updating your bios to the newest version to ensure compatibility.

RobCrezz, thanks for the response. For "not fitting" I mean that the newer cards I have been looking at (mainly gtx 970s) are too long. The case is fine, but the location of the SATA ports on the motherboard mean that a longer card will be blocked by the SATA ports. There is also someone above the card, on the motherboard, which would disallow a short 970, that was much taller than my current card. It really looks like a poor motherboard layout, that didn't account for video cards getting longer or taller than what were currently out.

Ah right I see. Yeah theres some short 970s like the Asus 970 mini which should fit, and the gigabyte GV-N970IXOC-4GD which is very small also. Both of these should be smaller than your 560 ti.

RobCrezz, there dimensions I come up with are as follows:

MSI Twin Frozr II 560 ti
L=-23.8 W=11.1 H=3.7 cm

Asus GeForce GTX 970 DirectCU Mini
L=17 W=12.19 H=4.07 cm

Gigabyte GV-N970IXOC-4GD

L=16.8 W=12.3 mm H=3.6 cm

It looks like the Gigabyte GV-N970IXOC-4GD is shorter lengthwise, and actually a tiny bit shorter in height, as well. This looks like it will work. Thanks a lot!

Had a similar setup (P67 Extreme6, MSI Twin Frozr II 570) and only had one space limiting factor during a recent upgrade. Motherboard-wise, my only current complaints revolve around a lack of integrated USB 3/SATA 6GB controllers & connections. I've simply hit the ceiling for SSD/HDD expansion without removing and replacing something. That said, my case (a first gen Corsair 600D) has caused another eye roller.

I bought an EVGA 980 Ti Hybrid and managed to install/secure it by removing the bottom hard drive rack and screwing the water cooler radiator into the bottom of the upper by 1 screw. It kind of "dangles from an angle" but it gets plenty of air flow and is not in danger of contacting free floating wires in the case.

To be clear, I'm using (and always have used) the blue PCI Express lane closest to the CPU with no video card space issues. Also, if you get a beefier card, I'd highly recommend a power supply with modular connections (I have Corsair HX750) as braided cords and the choice of "flat" connectors can avoid some SATA kerfuffles.

I was actually able to fit a full size MSI GeForce GTX 970 GTX 970 GAMING 100ME on the motherboard. The SATA ports were not blocking it, as I thought they would. Also, the power connectors being on the side of the card instead of the end was a big help. Thanks again for the suggestions.
