Should I buy an Intel G3258 Anniversary Edition or a Core i3-3220 CPU?

Should I upgrade my Intel Pentium D 820 to: Intel G3258 unlocked or core i3-3220? For casual gaming and everyday usage?
I've been thinking about upgrading my Pentium D 820 CPU for a while mainly because it is very old and reaches up to 90°C idle (Even with 2 fans and a good heatsink.)

There's been a debate against Intel's Pentium G3258 anniversary edition and core i3 models (mainly the 4160). From what I've seen, the benchmark results are very close to each other (both CPUs reaching up to 4,000).

The pentium g3258 is relatively cheap and provides i7-like performance when overclocked. The i3, however, is also an average CPU that can handle medium gaming well.

The price difference, 70$ for the g3258 and 130$ for the i3-4160, is what's making me side with the g3258.

Of course, I will buy a new motherboard for this. That's why I'm asking you guys which CPU I should get.

Optional: I'm plannig to buy 4GB of RAM. My Radeon HD 5450 runs pretty well, but it's old now. I'm thinking about upgrading it for medium gaming. Please suggest!

I think you should definitely get the Intel G3258 and overclock it, since it will do well. BUT I would save up after that to eventually get an I5 or AMD FX CPU. If you didn't have a build already, I would have suggested AMD CPU'S since they are really good for budget builds, and perform the same in games. Also, whats your budget for your gpu? For $200, you can get the 960 or r9 380. For $150-160 you can get the 950, but I would just save for the other two at that stage. The next lower tier would be the R9 270 and GTX 750 Ti, which both go for around $100, and preform 1080p pretty well. Im also assuming you live in America, because if you don't, prices vary a lot. I hoped this helped, and if it did, make sure to hit dat best answer...
