Hello! This is my first post, I've checked a lot of the other posts about this and none of the solutions have really worked for me. So, I figured I would give it my own shot as I have no clue what's going on.

Motherboard: ASUS m4a785td-v evo (supports 16GB ram)
Processor: AMD Phenom IIx4 955
Windows 10 x64 bit
Old RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL
New RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-8GBRL

The RAM I had before was 2x2GB ram (4GB total) that I've had forever. I tried to upgrade my ram before, but I think I got the wrong kind and returned it. THIS TIME, I got the EXACT SAME RAM except 2x4GB but it's not working.

Here is what I have tried:
Putting in only the 2 new sticks
Putting in all 4 sticks
Putting in 1 new 1 old
Putting in only 1 new stick
Putting 2 new sticks in slots #1/#2 and #1/#3
Unplug, reset CMOS battery, insert new RAM, power up
Making sure RAM is seated properly

None of these methods have worked for me, only when I put in the 2 old sticks does my PC boot. Otherwise, I don't even reach the BIOS (just a black screen), my monitor doesn't even turn on with the new sticks in, but my PC sounds like it's running.

Solution
Do you have the latest BIOS? If not get that then start with a single new stick. Don't get hopes up on running 1600 with your 955, the 965 3C was the first that reliably could run at 1600

Hey thanks for your answer,

I finally found my thumb drive so I was able to flash by BIOS, but then I had an issue with windows loading afterwards (something with my SATA config but nothing worked until I reset my CMOS). After getting windows to run, I was able to then install the new RAM and was able to boot just fine.

Thanks again, I will keep in mind that my 955 has issues running at 1600 if I run into any troubles.
