I was reading a forum about which ram to choose between a kingston hyperX 8gb and silicon power 8gb,well short on detail but the real question comes now,a man said"high performance memory
only yields a difference
during benchmarks . In real life
situations you won't notice any
difference."..i was like out from my chair so i decided to ask the pros...anyone is it true?or any views would be grateful..i am an amateaur so just keep it a little low.

It's true. there is very little difference except in benchmarks. Lower end RAM might give 10,000 score on a certain test and the fancy high end ram, 11,000 score, so clear it's 10% better, BUT play a game and record FPS with both types of RAM and you'll get the same FPS. Windows will load just as fast, youtube doesn't go any faster.

And if you don't know any better, why were you "out of your chair". I edited your title. Keep the language down.

Okay...i recognize my fault on the language..but like other people i also thought that if a high end ram had atleast 300 to 400 mhz more clock speed and a broder, faster bandwith they should actually effect the game performance in real life and thats what for people are paying,right?...so i was surprized,naturally..but after reading this...phew!...so the next time if i go to do a little shopping what do you guys think that which type of ram should i buy?stock ones or those more fast ones that goes by specs...consider all components of my cpu to be high end or atleast between mid range and high range.

In gaming it depends on the game and how well DRAM is utilized, game developers are using DRAM more and more. The more they utilize it the better performance will increase, Toms did an article awhile back showing gains of 10% or so in some games - part in top FPS but better in average FPS. Newer games are calling for more DRAM so faster will improve the performance in those also - look at Star Citizen and the upcoming Star Wars: Battlefront

Ok...so more or less faster ram will mean future proof to increase performance in games....it means it totally depends on games...and can someone just give me a link where tom's article was showing advantage of 10% gain?.....but nowdays games utilize atleast 2 to 3gb ram is it not enough to create a gap in performance between a high speed ram and those normal ones

Thanks ALL of you it really helped but at the end of the day the conclusion was same,"buy a faster ram for gaming"...and how did the best solution was chosen without me tapping the button 'best solution'?....well whatever thanks again and thanks for giving me the link tradesman1
