Windows 7 freezes in normal+safe mode, can't be installed again

Hi guys,

yesterday my Windows 7 started randomly freezing a few minutes after booting up regardless of what I was doing. I could still move my mouse, but couldn't click anything anymore. The only recourse was to hit the reset button. Booting in safe mode seemed to prevent this the first few times, but eventually it froze even during safe mode. Restoring Windows to a previous system point did not help either.

After one of the freezes, I got a blue screen that said "KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR". Unfortunately I did not write down the letter/number combination that describes the exact error. However, after learning on Google that this sometimes indicates HD problems, I decided to run chkdsk /r overnight.

I have a 120GB SSD drive, so I assumed 8 hours would be enough for it to finish. Unfortunately it was stuck at some percentage point and after waiting for half an hour (total runtime was 8 1/2 hours), I hit the reset button. Now I could run Windows without freezes for about 10 hours, but then it started all over again.

Since I couldn't do any more troubleshooting in Windows, I decided to format the disk and reinstall using the Windows installer. Formatting worked without problems, but when trying to install Windows, the program always got stuck at some percentage point while trying to expand the files.

At this point, I'm pretty sure it's either a problem with my SSD or with my RAM. Do you guys agree? In any event, what do you think I should try next?

Thanks in advance for your help!
