That is roughly what my OS takes to boot past the BIOS on my SSD (full boot, not a resume or wake event).

A SSD will be the single most performance enhancing upgrade you can do to a PC in terms of usability and responsiveness.

then i think he could be lying about the RAID setup in order to do RAID you need AT LEAST 2 identical drives. now if he decided to do RAID 0 with the HDD and SSD he would lose almost 3TB of space on the HDD since its running in RAID which doesnt make any sense

Its possible that he is in a "soft-off" state, and not fully off, restoring from a rested state is insanely quicker than booting from a full off state.

My BIOS takes longer than 2 seconds to complete, but then again I'm running a descent amount of drives, some of them are driven by a secondary SATA controller. I also don't use "quick bios" or "quick boot" features.

If I suspend my computer, or put it to sleep, its ready before my monitors can wakeup.

Either way, he's not really that far off concerning SSD performance.

If he does a Ctrl + Click on the Restart button the computer will actually do a Full Restart. This will take longer to boot from.

But waking from a suspended state can easily be done in 2 seconds with an SSD. And there normally isn't any specific need to do a full restart.
