I want to buy the MSI gtx 970 100me (min psu : 400 W - http://www.msi.com/product/graphics-card/GTX-970-GAMING-100ME.html#hero-specification) and I was wondering if my 500W Delta dps-500ab-6 was sufficient to run it.

Also, I can't find my PSU tier on tomshardware 2.0 list (http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/id-2547993/psu-tier-list.html) so I can't know what kind of overclocking I'll be able to do without burning my PSU.

Finally, I may need to remove the 100me backplate if it doesnt fit in my case and I wanted to know if anybody knows if it has been done/how to do it properly.

My PC is an Asus CG 8270.
You can find the specs here : https://www.asus.com/Tower-PCs/CG8270/specifications/

Many thanks!

The power limit only goes to 110% on MSI cards as far as I know.
Meaning the most your card can draw is around 190w.

So really it makes no odds , personally I see no reason yo overclock the 970 unless your running a 144htz screen in which case you should be looking at a stronger card really.

Oc wise , baby steps are the key , 50mhz on the core, 25mhz on the memory , test for artifacts/stability , up both clocks by 25mhz, rinse & repeat.

Painful , slow & long winded but ultimately the sensible way to do it.
Don't just go dropping big clock increases in one hit & certainly don't touch the voltage unless you really know what you're doing.
Spec wise yes it'll run it easily enough paired with an i5.

You need to check your connectors on the PSU.

Some of the delta models have a 8+6 pin cable , some only have a 6+6.

The MSI card requires a 8+6 pin power - I would advise against using any kind of adapters.

Mine has a 6+2 pin PCI-E and a 6 pin PCI-E on the same cable so I'm alright with that. However, I would like to know if I'll be able to overclock my GTX970 or is my PSU too bad quality for that? Again, I can't find it on the Tom's Hardware GPU tier list 2.0 .

Also, I'm running on Intel I7-3770 and I have 32G of RAM : does that changes something?

The msi 970 is locked down to a Max tdp of 209w so your PSU will handle it fine.

You won't find delta psu's on the tier list as they're majorly an OEM manufacturer for Asus, dell, HP & the like for prebuild systems.

I've always found Delta to be a fairly decent if unspectacular manufacturer - consider it a tier 3 if you really must.
