I have a 660 TI. It takes [2x6-pin PCIe] plugs for power. The power supply I want to use has [1x6-pin PCIe], and [2x4-pin MOLEX] plugs. Can I use a [2x4-pin MOLEX] to [1x6-pin PCIe] adapter to provide myself with the second [6-pin PCIe] plug I need for this card?

Solution

That PSU looks fine for a 660Ti, you should be absolutely OK to use an adaptor. Although it isn't generally recommended to use an adaptor if possible, the 660Ti isn't a massively power hungry card and you'll be just fine.

It's a 400W power supply.

Watts mean little. Amps delivered mean everything, as well as the quality of the PSU.

The reason is because MOLEX is not rated for the same amount of power as the 6-pin plugs. Because of this, in order to adapt from the MOLEX to the 6-pin, you need to use two MOLEX, otherwise you risk drawing more power than the MOLEX is rated for, and this will cause component failure, and a possible fire.
