Are you asking if you'll be able to play games at 60fps and on high settings? The answer would be yes.
Do you need to spend 1735$ to do it? No.
Could you get a skylake build for that price to match the "newness" of the 980ti? Probably.

The 980ti is of course going to be about 1/3 of that price, and for a top end card that's to be expected. Personally I would make sure to add another drive (hdd is fine) for storage as that 500 GB will go faster than you think. Like I mentioned as well, if you're looking to "future proof" you should probably look at a skylake build. That said, the chip you have is good so you don't NEED to change it, just something to consider.

yes that is overkill you will run every game at ultra settings 60fps and probably never drop below that, but you could get more than that for your money

Someone should post a build on here better than that for the price
