I am considering buying one of those routers that can broadcast 3g internet through WiFi signals.
Let me explain the situation here. We have 3 smartphones in the household and a laptop. I don't have wired broadband connection. The 3G dongle that I have connects well only in one part of the house. It is the same problem with all other cellphones. We have to go to a specific room to get good 3G speeds.
So if I use TP Link's 3G router, I could have all the phones and laptops in the house access the internet through the router from anywhere in the house.
My question is this - the 3G dongle however requires you to 'connect' via the Huawei software before you can access the internet. Will I need to then keep my laptop ON and connected to internet all the time if I need the phones in the house to access internet? The smartphones can connect to WiFi router but how will I make the Huawei dongle connect to the internet without having to switch on the PC?

You do not mention which TP Link router you are using, but the device should allow you to either connect the dongle you have to it via a USB port or you could put the SIM card directly into the device.
Either way, the onboard config software will allow you to choose how to make the connection.

It pretty much depends if your ISP ( the 3g provider) is a jerk or not. They must provide the information so the router manufacture can include the support for the dongle in the router. The routers must support both the hardware you use and the ISP. You need to read he compatibility list very closely. You also need to check that you have the latest list/firmware of supported 3g modems the router supports.

Luckily many more ISP have decided to support this rather than try to sell you their special router to do this for lots of money.
