CPU vs GPU (Is i3 2100 good enough to run at 1080p ?)

Hi All,

Please suggest i need a small clarification, 1920 x 1080 at this resolution which component creates more impact, cpu or gpu, i am asking this because if i bought decent graphics card like gtx 750 ti or gtx 950 then i dont need to worry 'that much' about processor right ?

my current specs are : {dont worry about PSU and RAM !}
i3 2100 @3.1 GHZ
resolution is 1366x768, 19 inch
gtx 750 ti or gtx 950 i am about to buy in few weeks !

One of the CPU experts suggested that for i3 2100 and 1366x768, gtx 750 ti or gtx 950 is good combo !

NOTE : In future i may connect my PC to 42 or 50 inch TV (1920x1080),[ solely purpose playing FIFA,,, sounds funny but yes ] so at this point for this(1080p) resolution is i3 2100 good enough ?

My preference is "I don't want to change the processor just because i connected to FULL HD TV", the processor or gpu should not bottleneck.

I had core i3 2120 (same processor as your but a bit higher clock speed) earlier, I used it along with GTX 960 and it lagged & stuttered slightly at max setting @1080p in newer games like Witcher 3, GTA V and Crysis 3. However if you tone down settings a bit the lag was gone.

But those are demanding games you wont see any issues with games like Fifa. You will be doing probably 60 fps @1080p with a gtx 950 in that game, don't worry.

Also get the Gtx 950 its a dx 12 gpu, infact while you upgrade your gpu next time, you can resell it for a much better price than the 750Ti which is dx 11 only.

for that specific game a gtx 750 ti or a gtx 950 would pair well with your cpu at 1080p

GtX 750Ti is ideal for your processor .But GTX 950 is better for 1080p gaming. Gtx 950 will bottleneck but not too much .If you have a i5 you get 10 to 15 more fps. with your processor you will lose 10 to 15 fps...
