Which video card should a new builder use? MSI or Gigabyte (both Geforce GTX 980 Ti 6GB)?

Hi!

So I'm building my first PC ever and narrowed down my video card search to these two cards;

MSI GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB

Gigabyte GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB

After reading countless reviews I still honestly can't decide for my lack of experience. Overall, they're both the same, except the poorest part of Gigabyte seems to be the coil whine, whereas MSI seems to get hotter quickly (from other benchmark reviews I've read they both look similar FPS-wise). Which out of those two - coil whine or heating - are worse? How distracting is coil whine when the case is closed up? Also I've heard that MSI's card is actually doing it's job by sucking out the heat from the important parts of the card, but being new to all this I really wouldn't know. I do like Gigabyte's color scheme a bit more, and MSI is only 10 bucks cheaper.

Whichever card it'll be, I probably won't overclock in the foreseeable future (though that might change). I'll be using the PC for high-end gaming, modeling software, and music/video/picture creating & editing software. Thanks in advance

I have a MSI GTX 970 paired with a i5 4460 and it maxes all my games with maybe ambient occlusion or AA down a bit. I play some games at 1440p with DSR (Dynamic Super Resolution) which makes everything very sharp and stays at 60fps. I think only killing floor 2 so far isn't very good on 1440p performance wise.

Just goes to show you don't need a £400-800 graphics card. MSI's GTX 970 looks so bad ass and has a back plate, its a beast.

Thanks for the replies!

This took alot of consideration, but I think I'll go with the Gigabyte card. IMO as a newbie, the coil whine is less of a deal than a high-heated card, and the color matches the Fractal R5 titanium case I'm getting. I heard the warranty isn't too bad either. I'll definitely keep other options in mind though.

The MSI's GTX 970 sounds great, but I want to future-proof this PC as much as possible within my budget. :)
