Hey guys,

I'm running a 3 year old rig I built for gaming. At the time I could run anything full settings but now I can barely even run Ark on the lowest settings. Here's my specs:
2x - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 Ti 's running SLI.
16GB DDR3
i5-2550K 3.4GHz Quad Core
This motherboard

My question is, should I upgrade my processor or gpu? Or did I maybe miss something in the bios for full optimization of the cards?

Solution
Upgrade the GPU's the 560TI is so old now that even with SLI games don't run too well off of them, where as your CPU is fine and should run games fairly well itself, maybe upgrade the GPU and the CPU cooler and OC your processor a bit and you should be fine

Plus, SLI scaling is terrible on a lot of games

Yeah but the r9 390 has 8 gigs of ram and supports async compute. Above 1080p it's closer to the gtx 980 performance. At 1080p it trades blows with the gtx 970.

I would say the performance is the same or the GTX 970 has a very MINIMAL advantage, btw the 390 costs like $40-70 less and has 8GBs of VRAM

Yes I would agree with this at anything above 1080p the r9 390 is a better choice I am going off the assumption that most people game on 1080p that OP uses a 1080p monitor, and it is fairly close when it comes to performance my preference comes down to marginally better performance, lower power consumption, lower temps and from what ive tested the 970's are usually quitter than the r9 390

This is complete Regional depending on where people are from depends on how much they can get parts on, for where you are this maybe a fact but where I am from the GTX 970 is lower in price

I'm in Ireland, and I'm assuming the OP is in the US, the 390 is the same price here in Ireland

Thanks guys, I gather that I'll be upgrading my GPU and overclocking my CPU. I already have a badass cpu cooler (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835118223) so no need to upgrade there :p
