Hello. I have a system with 1TB Hard Drive right now. It is a Windows 7 OEM ASUS machine.
I want to put upgrade the main hard drive and put the existing system onto a 2TB or 3TB new drive.
Should I use Acornis or Macrium and clone the disk and use those programs to put it onto the new drive OR should I do a Easy Transfer in Windows 7 and then Reinstall Win 7 on the new hard drive and use Easy Transfer to put my files on to the new system and hard drive>?

any guidance or help with this or a better way would be greatly appreciated!

Whilst you can use Acornis or Macrium to clone the drive, it's recommended to do a clean install of Windows 7. This is so that old software you don't use isn't moved across and so that you get the performance of a new operating system. Then you could easily connect the old HDD via a USB to SATA cable and transfer your personal files across. You'll have to re-install all software as just moving the files over will not work so just move over personal data such as Documents.

As far as getting the Windows 7 media to re-install, if you have a recovery disk then use that else, enter your product key here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows7 and you can download the official ISO image which can be burned to a DVD or made into a bootable USB (which I recommend).

Best of luck and let me know how it goes.
