Good evening,
I mounted later this evening my cpu cooler onto my cpu but then had a doubt on wether there was a thermal paste or not already applied by intel. So I proceeded to remove the cpu cooler and noticed that in fact there was a paste pre-installed. I immediately put the cpu cooler back onto the cpu itself.
Will this alter the performances of the paste? Its ability to clear heat out.
Note: I did not lose any paste in the process, just wondering if it could have dried up or something like that. (the paste was only separated for 15 secs about)

Thank you for your time and answer.

Solution
You'll be fine. People pull of the heatsinks to their CPU's all the time with no negative affects noted. Thermal paste drys out all the time, the only time i personally reapply is if it's been a long time since i've reapplied and i just so happen to have the heatsink off my CPU. Also thermal paste helps fill in the air gaps between the CPU and heatsink and bonds them, so it's important, but it's not a major factor in cooling performance.
