Hi All,

Recently noticed that the Fallout 4 requirements are a bit higher than what my current machine has. The thing needs an upgrade in general anyway. Just wondering whether to go with a GTX 970 or 980 Ti. Unsure if my current specs will be a bottleneck on either card (assuming they will be). Have included a picture of my current specs, sorry if the picture is a tad small.

Pretty much the same feelings here. Given those prices, the 390X is awesome value. Combined with the ridiculous 8GB of VRAM, it should last you a pretty long time at 1080p.

nah, the upgrade is not necessary yet imho, your gpu is still able pulling most modern games at fhd resolution, just cut back on some eye candy features on the game settings. if you persist on upgrading the gtx 970 is your only way that'll give a significant impact on your performance without worrying about powersupply issues. or just wait till end of year sales to get some great discount before buying.

Wa1, my PSU is a "Cooler Master RS650-ACAAE3-UK GX-Series 650W 80 Plus Power Supply Unit".
And I'm really not to bothered about the price; I would feel comfortable spending anywhere between £300-600.

That's not a bad PSU. It should handle mid-range graphics cards easily, although I'd need to double check if you wanted to really stress it.

Your CPU should be able to handle pretty much any graphics card, too. Upgrading it would also be very expensive, anyway, since you'd need a new motherboard and possibly RAM. I wouldn't worry about it, anyway.

You should pretty much choose whatever graphics card you feel comfortable spending money on, and that should do the trick. Bear in mind that anything beyond the 970/390 is pretty overkill for 1080p, but will probably take more time before you need to upgrade again. My recommendation would then be something in the range between the 390X, 980, and Fury, since they are more than enough for 1080p and they add a bit of extra power for a good price.

See I can get the 970 for around £290, whereas the 980 comes in at around £450 and the 390X being £350. Based on the fact that the majority of my gaming shall be done at 1080p for the foreseeable future do you think I would be best going for a 980 or the 390X simply because it gives me more security for the future? And if so, which of the two would you personally pick? I have had a look at both cards and specs appear similar with a few frames differing here and there; I've also never owned an AMD Card so I have no experience of drivers etc. with AMD.

As much crap as people have been giving amd for their 300 series being "just" improved refreshes of the 200 series, they are still looking like better cards for the future.

The trend has been that AMD cards beat their NVIDIA equivalents by a larger and larger margin as time goes on. Given that they perform quite similarly, and the 390x is significantly cheaper, I'd go for it.

NVIDIA is really only winning at the 980Ti / 950 levels at the moment. If you're considering anything else, you're better off with a Radeon.
