Hey folks. I'm trying to do a clean install to a new SSD on my Alienware tower. I have the OEM disc, which gives the error "a required cd/dvd device driver is missing" when I choose "Install".
I borrowed another Win7 Home Premium disc to see if it would work, but it gives the same error.
The OEM disc is clean and scratch-free. Not sure why this keeps happening. I've seen some folks mention sorting the boot order, which I've played with, but to no success. Any thoughts on the matter would be appreciated. Thanks.

Are you booting from the win7 disk? If not, update your bios boot order so it boots from the disk and not from your existing HDD.

Since its a new ssd, you can also remove (or just disconnect) your existing hdd to ensure it doesnt confuse the setup program.

I'm booting from the DVD, and it prompts me to install, but when it's supposed to ask me which disc I want to install to, it gives me that error.
I've attempted it with a bootable USB, with the same results. Getting a bit confused at this point. Is there some setting I haven't checked yet?
