Need a graphics card compatible with my computer

Have an Hp Envy 700-329: http://support.hp.com/rs-en/document/c04319096

I haven't made any upgrades so far. Just planning on upgrading gpu. Will a GTX 960 work with this computer? (without upgrading psu) If it doesn't then please recommend a good gpu. I am willing to purchase anything $300 or under. Looking to game at 1080.

A GTX 750ti is probably the best you can do with that before having to replace things like your PSU, which might be proprietary.

That's a good rule of thumb, but doesn't always hold true. A lower-wattage quality PSU is better than a high-wattage piece of junk.

And btw if I purchase SSC or FTW do they consume more power than the normal card?

You would need to make sure your PSU had the correct PCIe power connectors, and yes, the SSC and FTW models draw more wattage than the stock model.
