Hey everyone,
I'm arriving soon in Eilat (city in Israel) where we have VAT removed from mot products, so I want to use this opportunity to buy a new PC.

Here are the 980ti are available at the stores and fit my budget, I've been reading and researching and as this is my first PC it's so hard to make a decision without a previous experience with those brands, so please help... Here are the models:

EVGA GTX980 Ti ACX 2.0 SC - $762
EVGA GTX980 Ti ACX 2.0 SC+ (smexy blackplate added) - $790
MSI GTX980 Ti GAMING 6GB - $806
Gigabyte GTX980 Ti G1 GAMING - $812
*Yep... these are the prices in Israel without VAT...
I'm gonna take my chances with the lottery, my goal is basically to get a relatively high stable OC. The other thing I'm slightly worried about is the coil whine, I'd like to minimize my chances of getting that. Thanks to anyone who could chime in.

Thanks for your reply. After doing further reading it seems that the MSI card is indeed a pretty solid one.
Now what would you say about the 980TI G1 Gaming that's only a few dollars more? It seems that with the G1 I have potential to reach just slightly higher overclocks at the maximum, but there are quite a lot of coil whine issues seen on newegg reviews, so I don't know if it's worth the risk.

The only options I have are the cards I listed in the original post. I'm buying it from a store where I have to be physically present there to buy them. I live in Israel, and soon I'll be in a city called Eilat, where most of the products there have their VAT removed, making them cheaper than they usually are.

heck I thought and hear Israel was the next best ting to America ?? guess not ?

though that Eilat area looks a little too close for comfort for me ???

so anyway when I think NVidia I think evga , but that's just me .. just figured the water cooled card that runs at 60c max would be a good fit in the desert air

good luck

Eilat reads up like a good place to dive

If you are an overclocker then you wan to get the Gigabyte GTX 980 Ti G1 Gaming http://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-GeForce-GV-N98TG1-Gamin.... The G1 Gaming models have binned chips that will perform better and reach higher OC's. If you don't plan to push OC'ing to the limit then the MSI Gaming is the better choice since the cooler is more efficient and quiet.

Not sure what you're looking at because I'm not seeing what you're saying...

We're still far away from America, I could go into that but then we'd get off topic :D
Eilat is mostly a tourist destination, I'm going there with my girlfriend, going to arrive there in about 5-6 hours. Going back on Sunday. I can pretty much buy just what they have in stock, I won't be there long enough for them to order anything they don't have, and besides that, they don't have much of a variety on products.

They also have the following reference cards in stock, it would save me quite a great deal of money.
MSI GTX980 Ti 6GB - $739 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127891
Gigabyte GTX980 Ti 6GB - $731 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125786

The reference cards would help fit my budget much more, but I don't think they'll meet up my expectations in terms of heat, noise, overclocking.
I was originally set on the EVGA GTX980 Ti ACX 2.0 SC+, which looks like a beauty of card, but compared to the MSI Gaming and Gigabyte G1 I think I'm better off choosing of the latter.

I am planning on overclocking, hoping for a stable 1400~1500mhz gaming experience. I'm not going for the maximum possible overclocking trying to break records haha.

Having to RMA a card over here because of coil whine would be nearly impossible... The return policy and customer service is no where on par. I see it's quite common in the united states to order 3 cards and then just keep the best one. Once I open up the GPU it's as good as a 2nd hand GPU over here. Only way to RMA it is if it's unopened.

In that case I'm left with EVGA GTX980 Ti ACX 2.0 SC+ vs MSI GTX980 Ti GAMING 6GB.
Both seem like really good cards.

see who gives you the best of service in your location if by any chance of bad luck you did have to send it in for warrantee ?? and go with the one you see will be the easiest and helpful

found this

msi seems to have a service location there don't see anything like that with evga ??

Great find, thank you! It's 6pm so I'll try tomorrow morning to get a hold of them, it would be great if they had refurbished items. A bit off topic but I once ordered refurbished headphones from amazon with redirect shipping to Israel, saved a lot of money.

So far I have today 2 hours left to buy, if not I got tomorrow and Sunday morning before I'm leaving.
Basically if anything is wrong with your card you have the take it up with the computer chain store (there a few known ones all over Israel that almost everyone buys from) that you bought it from, or you could try to talk with the manufacture itself. But to return a card to store that's already been used (doesn't matter how long), just because you 'kinda' didn't like it would be impossible unless you got connections or something like that. The customer service over here is still light years behind... When I read reviews and someone tells how he bought 3 different GPUs and kept the one that performed best and RMA'd the other two, it sounds like a fairy tale, I wish we could do the same.

So far I'm inclined towards the MSI. I'd like a balance between performance and noise level, after having a kind of noisy desktop in my room I could learn to appreciate a more quiet one for sure.

If they had the EVGA FTW model I would definitely get that one, but with only SC+ as a contender I'm probably better off with the MSI. Although I think the SC+ looks better in terms of aesthetics, I don't fancy the dragon on the backplate all that much. They also the Asus Strix OC and MSI Lightning editions, but price gap is just way too much ($77) from the G1.

From what I heard EVGA has excellent customer service and upgrade routes if you live in the USA, but for me it wouldn't do much I guess.

Well, thanks again :)
I do hope things go well tomorrow.

Thanks for the linking the review. I think it does indeed look like a decent card, it's really too bad they don't have the EVGA FTW 980TI in Israel at all, only the regular 980. The only thing that I could think I would miss out by not getting the Gigabyte G1 is not having the highest overclock, but yeah I can live with a few fps less lol.

The msi gaming 6g 980ti is very solid. I came from a sapphire 7970 and am absolutely satisfied with msi 980ti. I think it's the best air cooled 980ti avaible. Yes the g1 has better cooling, but it has reports of coil whine, and the msi lightning 980ti is $800 lol

I'm glad to hear you like the card!
Eventually I will be buying everything on Sunday. Do you think the Fractal Design S w/ Noctua NH-D14 will be sufficient cooling environment for the MSI card if I'm gonna OC it?
