I want to wire one phone line to the double phone/ethernet wall plate. Is this possible?

I just want to clean up the wire situation. I have a land line and a modem/router sitting next to each other. I want to plug them both into one wallplate.

Premise: One wire coming in with 2 wiring pairs: one pair red-green, the other pair yellow-black.

The wall plate would need to have two (dual) ports.

Most likely, for a dual port RJ-11 wall jack, you would wire the red-green pair to one of the ports for telephone/voice.

Then wire the yellow-black pair to the other port for the DSL connection.

Something like the splitter diagram in the upper left part of the link.....

The requirement being that the incoming wire is configured that way at its point of origin or somewhere else along the way. Possibly all the way back at the connection point where service first enters the dwelling. Normally everything downstream from that point is the responsibility of the residents. Either DIY...

Either DIY or pay the provider.

Many homes now have 4 pair wiring (8 wires) but that wiring is not ethernet wiring per se. But sometimes people have used ethernet cable and vice versa....

That is why I provided the link as a reference resource. You need to understand the current configuration in order to switch things around to clean up the wiring.

Post a diagram and be sure to include color coding if you can. Will help us all visualize the current and intended wiring plan. Thanks.
