Do two SSD drives operate comparably fast to one larger drive?

Currently I have a 1TB HDD + 120GB SSD combo on my PC but the constant battle for 20% free space on the SSD on which my OS and one game I'm playing at a given moment sit has become really tiring and so, since the prices of SSD drives has gone down since I've bought my current one, I thought about adding a second SSD for the sole purpose of storing games there (so that I don't have to constantly think which game is more worthy of the space and junction link the other ones to the HDD).

The question I have about this, though, is - would adding a second SSD make it slower than just replacing the 120GB one with a larger one? Would the new SSD performance be somehow limited by the fact that the OS would be running from a different drive than the game? Or does it make no difference and a game installed on the new SSD would run just as fast as when I install them on my current 120GB SSD on which the OS sits as well?

In your scenario, the second SSD would not reduce your system speed. Your overall gaming experience would be improved, but ...

Larger SSDs, generally, are quicker than smaller ones (according to the stats) so replacing the 120 with a 500+ and transferring your OS to that, would provide a better environment and easier configuration.
