Depending on which games you want to stream, you might be better off with a dedicated streaming computer to avoid performance hits on your gaming rig.

That being said, the Intel Xeon will be better suited for those tasks given the better IPC performance over the dated AMD design.

You could also wait for black friday and/or AM4 socket release for (perhaps) better prices too :)

Thank you GMD, the above games is what I'm looking to stream using twitch. I am not sure what AM4 is, its cost, or why its better? I dont have alot of tech knowhow.

Andyman Because of budget reasons I was trying get an I7 equivalent but save the most money so I choose that intel that doesn't have the onboard gpu to save 100$ What does "newer platform" mean? or what makes it better?

SR-71 Blackbird - care to explain?

Andy - that is fine I don't care either way I just want to find the best CPU to go with my: PowerColor Radeon R9 390 8GB PCS+ Video Card Someone else on Toms said that part communication works better if you keep a AMD with a radeon but I don't know if that's true or not.

This is my full specs: Sanics Super comp Part Picker

The FX-9xxx series is nothing more than overclocked versions of the FX-8xxx and it requires 220w of power as well as liquid cooling. AMD CPUs are generally not as powerful as Intel CPUs because they cannot execute as many instructions per 1Hz compared to Intel CPUs. The only way to compete against Intel is to increase the clock speed. However, an Intel CPU running at stock speed can basically compete very well against an overclocked AMD CPU especially in games.

People are hoping that the successor to the FX-8/9xxx, Zen, will be more competitive against Intel. The 2nd gen FX CPU performance is on average between a 1st and 2nd generation Intel Core CPU which is currently on it's 6th generation. Zen is expected to be released in Q4 2016 and by that time the 7th gen Intel CPUs will be released.

Fallout 4 will be pretty dependent on the CPU and since it uses an updated version of the Creation Engine used by Skyrim, Fallout 4 should perform much better on an Intel CPU compared to an AMD CPU. The benchmark below shows the 2nd gen i5-2500k performing 25% better than the FX-8350 when using the same GPU (Radeon HD 7950) @ 1080p and running at stock speed. However, most games do not show such a large difference performance difference of 25%. Though CPU dependent games will certain run better with Intel CPUs.

Thank you jag that was alot of good information.

Not cool RLBalane for picking that as "best solution" when it had nothing to do with my topic nor did he try to explain why he thinks it is.

There is HSA if you use AMD cpu+gpu but very few things take advantage of it and AMD cpus are just too far behind.
http://www.overclock.net/a/amd-fusion-and-the-hsa-revolution-what-is-hsa-and-why-it-will-be-revolutionary

What i meant by newer platform is things like USB type c, faster m.2 on the motherboard, more sata ports, etc. For gaming ddr4 speeds mean nothing if you use a discrete graphics cards, and skylake only has like 5-8% better IPC(instructions per clock). So if you find a z97/h97 board with all the ports you will ever want, then go for it.

At this point it's quite a small premium to go z170 over z97.

Go with the i7, trust me I do streaming and uploading to youtube too and the extra power of the i7 will help you alot. Maybe even go with the 6 core i7-5820k which im putting in my new computer. If you were just gaming then an i5 is fine.

I would also say like blackbird says 66 i5 is fine too. especially if you Overclock even if not.
