First ever build looking for a decent quality computer for $600-$700. I want it to play games like Overwatch and Skyrim on high/max with >30 FPS.

My part list is here : http://pcpartpicker.com/p/GHhfWZ

What are your thoughts on this build?
Is it good?
Could it be cheaper? **
Keep in mind this is my first pc build ever.
Thanks :D

Please keep it all on the same topic. You're the guy I helped on another thread - just keep it all on one thread next time :)

The power supply could be lowered to the EVGA GS 550W if you want to save some money, but there is nothing wrong with having a lot of power headroom, and the EVGA 750W B2 is top quality for great price. Other than that it is good, but I would almost recommend getting 8GB RAM and going with an Intel I5 processor for better gaming performance. And you won't need to buy a cooler then.

^^ Agreed. You could get an i5-4590 for about $180 which includes the cooler, costing + $50 over your FX-6300 and separate cooler. Meanwhile, 8gb (2x4gb) of the Crucial Ballistix Sport XT would save you $44.00. Net cost increase becomes.... $6.00. Finding a LGA1150 at the same price as your AM3 board should be pretty easy - Gigabyte Z97MX Gaming 5 is about $100 right in the same ballpark.

And the i5-4590 will pretty much chew up and spit out the FX6300.

I agree with turkey3 about the power supply and processor
My recommendation for great performance and maximum value for money
i5 processor on stock cooler
gigabyte H81 HD3 or similar (very good sound quality)
Crucial Ballistix 1600Mhz CL9 or similar. 8Gb is enough, 16 if you can afford it.
Samsung Evo SSD
The rest of your build is OK, but you could save money on the case. A cheap case does not slow your PC down.
You could even do what I did - see my signature....

I've been doing tons of research and i've been told that AMD is a better bet for gaming budget builds in terms of price to quality ratio. Also, I updated my list to see if you have any other suggestions. Is an i5 still good for this?

If you cannot afford Intel, AMD is cheaper....
But in a few years time, A powerful quad core intel processor will still be fast enough to play games, and the AMD will not. Intel i5 is expensive, but it is a lot cheaper than buying a complete new PC in a couple of years.
So instead of economizing on the CPU, I suggest you save money on the case (get a budget one with good reviews on Amazon for $40), stick with the stock cooler, and avoid temptation to buy an overly powerful power supply. (BTW, AMD need more power than Intel)
Finally, why buy an expensive motherboard? Are you really going to fit 5 hard disks, 2 graphic cards and 10 USB devices?
My motherboard works OK, and the sound quality is great.
