I currently have a gaming PC with an MSI Mini-ITX LG 1150 B85I motherboard with a GTX 750 ti graphics card. I was thinking of upgrading within the next few months and was wondering is the GTX 970 mini would pose a compatibility issue with the motherboard.

I bought that card last year and unless they update the fan curve in the BIOS it has an EXTREMELY noisy fan. I mean noisier than any card I ever had in 12 years of building PCs. I had it in a very well ventilated case too. Needless to say I no longer have it.

You mean Gigabyte Windforece Triple Fan GTX 970? That card is as quite as a whisper in a library.
Btw, MSI Twin Frozr is also a good card. Classic EVGA GTX 970 ones are also a valid choice.
