I have an existing i7-3770 linux server constantly running 90%> load 24/7.

I would like to upgrade its bronze PSU to a platinum so i can shrink my electric bill.

It has 4 Sata HDDs connected and tons of external devices hooked up. That said, my wattage meter usually shows 200w-250w on a normal day.

After doing much research, I am considering the following:
EVGA SuperNOVA 650 P2 80+ PLATINUM
FSP Group 450W Modular Cable Power Supply 80 PLUS Platinum AURUM 92+
Antec EA-550 Platinum 550 Power Supply

Would like to hear some guru advice on this. Thanks. :D

Have you done a cost/benefit analysis?
I might speculate that you are using 6kwhr per day.
At 10 cents per kw-hr , it is costing you 60 cents per day to run or about $220 per year.
If you change from a 80% efficient psu to a 95% efficient psu, you are saving 15% or $33 per year.
If my numbers and calculations are anywhere right, you are looking at payback periods of some 4 years.
It seems hardly worthy it to me.

Thanks for the suggestion but I will be purchasing from amazon.com and that model doesn't ship free to where i am located on the globe. :( The place where i live is normally 20% more pricey than amazon.

Yup, i am aware and ok with 4-5years and this server will probably still be running the same specs for another 8years or so. :) In fact, I have been using this current bronze PSU for nearly 4years - that time when i made this purchase, i believe platinum was a lot more pricey when it came out. I also have other servers i could use this bronze PSU as a spare or for emergency. Sounds like a plan.. :bounce:

After much thought i have decided to go for Rosewill Quark Series 550 instead. Mainly because it's cheaper and it comes with LED Lights to Indicate A Malfunction which might come in handy for swift rectification.
