Hello!

I installed a corsair h100i cooler yesterday and when I powered on my computer after, it kept restarting without loading anything. I double checked to make sure I installed the cooler properly and the computer would still keep restarting. I consulted the Internet and read a solution regarding my RAM and it turns out that was the case.

My computer will only start up when RAM is loaded into the furthest left memory channel (DDR3 4 for MSI & DDR3 1 for Gigabyte) and I tested to make sure my RAM sticks were not bad. There were suggestions that it could be my motherboard's problem, but I am experiencing the same problem when I switched out to a new motherboard too.

I tried testing to see whether or not my PSU had enough power with the cooler installed by disconnecting the power and adding the second stick of ram back in, but I still experience the same problem.

Am I really unlucky in getting another faulty motherboard or did I completely derp out and forget to do something? :(

Details:
First motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-Z97-HD3
Second motherboard: MSI Z97 GAMING 5
Memory: G.SKILL Sniper 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3

Solution
Might try loosening the cooler then snug it down screw tight, if you get it too tight in a corner or side it can throw the CPU out of level and you effectively 'lose' a channel
