Hello everyone,

Today I got a CM Hyper 212 EVO, and after I installed it on my i5 4570, I didn't really notice a difference between this one and the stock I was using before, only that it's quieter.

I'm getting 45 to 50 degrees at idle, and after trying it with GTA V for a while, it goes all the way up to 65-70.

Is that normal? I was expecting way lower temps, especially on idle. I mean, I was getting almost the same temps with the stock heatsink.

I will try reapplying the thermal paste on the weekend, but I'm pretty sure I did it the right way (rice size drop in the middle of the CPU).

Can anyone confirm?

Thanks!

i would reapply the paste.

when you remove the cooler, look to see what happened to the paste that is there. sometimes that method wont spread correctly, you'll find out once you get in there.

That's not normal, you should be getting noticeably lower temps with the evo than if you were using the stock fan. Try adjusting the fan profile perhaps to something more agresssive? Or if nothing else works RMA

HI, I agree with dantheman0809. I have an i5 4440 with a CM TX3 Evo and my idle temp are around 27-29C and load using Prime95 with MAX heat test is around 55-57C. The 212 Evo perforsm WAY better than a TX3 Evo. Re-apply the past as suggusted by daswilhelm and make sure it is secured properly.

Well, that was it I think. I reapplied the paste, putting a bit more than before, and it seemed to do the trick. The cooler wasn't even glued to the CPU, and was very easy to remove when I pulled it off. That must have been it

I'm getting 32-38 degrees on idle now and around 50 while playing Witcher 3, so I'm pretty satisfied.

Thanks everyone!

Same CPU but with CM 212X but currently the temp outside is 25-30 C . Iddle temperatures are 35C for all cores. Measured with RealTemp. Is it normal or paste issues?
