Well I can tell you right now that your CPU isn't supported by 10 and upgrading will not work.

[strike]If he's using this on the internet it's unsafe. Windows XP has been unsupported for over a year now.[/strike]

I see you've edited your post. If it's solely being used as an offline gaming box for older games, then that's fine. There's a few upgrades you can do too improve performance in older games, but I'd recommend starting off with a new HDD and PSU, as well as backing up everything on there. These components are the most likely to die, especially on an older system which is used for gaming.

That machines parts are roughly 15 years old now. It's probably running Windows 2k/XP which are both obsolete. There's no real upgrade path either, it's really time for a new machine.

You could defrag it, but I wouldn't be trusting a 15 year old spinning drive at this point. It's probably on it's last legs at this point and should have all the data backed up off it.

What OS is it running? What is the machine used for? Does the machine go on the internet?

The only parts I would recommend getting are stuff that would keep it alive longer. You really need to be looking into a new machine and backing the data up off of that one.
