How to know what RAM to buy for Laptop?

Solution

yes but if you mix and match RAM then the timings on the other ram might not match and the ram would have to run at the slowest ram's speed and timings. the tip is to find the exact brand and speed of the other RAM but if you dont care then yes you can mix and match. it wont hurt to do so. (I mixed and matched ram when i was just getting into computers) you wont notice the difference of mix and match if your not tech savvy.

your looking for DDR3 in a SODIMM profile NON ECC NOT REGISTERED and if your OCD about brand then the one in your laptop is currently Samsung . The current speed if the RAM in your laptop is 1600 MHz. And you currently have 1 stick of 4GB in the laptop. so if you want 8GB of ram look for another stick of DDR3 1600MHz NON ECC Non registered 4GB Samsung.
