Hello All
I am very knowledgeable about most aspects of MB's but.. trying to decipher front panel HD audio from the posts here and elsewhere have confused me. I have a Casatunes licensed server and I am upgrading the Mini ITX MB to new. I can use the front headphone output along with rear 7.1 output to deliver 5 separate stereo pairs to my Russound WHA unit.

I will take an old HDAUDIO cable, cut off the circuit board and AC97 plug and connect only the headphone output to a 1/8' miniplug jack. I do NOT want it to turn off the rear output when it is connected (no autosensing). I don't want input. I don't want amplification, equalization or anything. I only want output that will behave exactly the same as 7.1 speaker connections on the rear.

This additional output (along with 7.1 speaker outputs) will provide me with 5 channels of stereo sound to power 5 inputs of my Russound CAV6.6 whole house audio unit.

Realtek sound from ASROCK N3700-ITX MB
Thanks for any "directed reading" or answers about my audio port question

Sorry I was editing the original post to make it readable. I input it in that tiny window of the web page and it turned out "badly"... sorry.
.
This is a Casatunes server and uses Realtek HD audio outputs as desrete Stereo outputs to feed a Russound CAV6.6 unit. It works nicely but only provides 3 stereo pairs from the original 5.1 MB that I am upgrading. Since I am upgrading to new processor and hardware, I wanted to take full advantage and get 2 more channels working on new MB.
thanks,
