I know many of you have seen this before, there is one thing I would like to ask that I have not seen anywhere else. First a little context, I am building a mini itx 400-500 dollar build. I was debating between a 860k and a g3258. On paper the g3258 is the way to go because of its overclocking capability. Unfortunately (as you probably know) you cannot overclock the g3258 on windows 10. I was really leaning towards a 860k with a cpu cooler and overclocking. If you know of a motherboard that would go along with it (mini itx) I would greatly appreciate it.

You can overclock a g3258 in windows 10, however you need a z97 motherboard for that to work.

If you don't plan to upgrade your system for a long time then the Athlon 860K is the way to go, if not then the g3258 is the way to go.

Because overclocking BIOS "hacks" on H81, B85, H87, and H97 boards took Intel by surprise, they are now working with Microsoft in order to "fix" this problem that should of never happened. However, overclocking will still work on Z97 motherboards since those are designed for overclocking.

Grab an 860k if those are what you can afford. I'm assuming you're gaming(if not, my apologies). You'll be held back by only having two cores with the Pentium. If you're not gaming or you have specific games to play that use two cores then you're fine though and its a better choice. If your palate is new games then the 860k though
