Massive CPU Temp Disparity between CoreTemp and Speedfan?

I'm wondering what the reason is for huge temperature differences between Speedfan and a utility like CoreTemp.

For example, according to Speedfan and my Bios, my i7-4790k idles at 35-36c. According to coretemp, every core idles closer to 50c.

According to CoreTemp, my CPU runs around 100c at load. According to Speedfan and my Bios, it stops climbing at 68-70c.

I know coretemp uses individual sensors to measure more accurately in the CPU, whereas the Bios temps and Speedfan measure in a more general and less accurate way. But is such a huge disparity between their measurements normal? Which do I trust?

Yeah, that's the place. Just downloaded it a few days ago, too. I updated my Uefi Bios as well.

I posted a question yesterday asking about my very high i7-4790k temps. I was sure I had a defective cpu because RealTemp and CoreTemp both gave me the same ultra-high temperature readings, no matter the cpu cooler I used. But then I started testing with Speedfan and my Bios, and I get normal readings, they both report within 1 degree of each other.

Now I have no idea what to think XD

Another route (although perhaps suboptimal), would be to check to see if your motherboard manufacturer offers temperature monitoring software from their website. I would assume this would be correct unless there is an issue with the sensor.

Best of luck!
