I consider myself to have a fantastic rig, it runs everything ive tried at well over 60fps (normally around 100-110) in 4k (3640x2160). However, when i try to record gameplay on anything, my fps on the recording side drop to 15-17. I tried Fraps and Dxtory, same results. Even with the assumed 40% loss of fps for recording, if im running it at 120fps, thats still 72fps. I have both HHDs and an SSD, and both gave the same result.

i7 5960x processor w/ water cooling
32GB Ripjaw 4 series DDR4 RAM
SLI GTX 980 ti hybrids
two 4TB WD Black HHDs not in raid (one is media , the other is storage for games, etc.)
120GB intel 530 series SSD

That's odd when i use shadowplay i don't get choppy image quality are you using the highest bitrate on GFE? i used to get pixelated videos but when i used handbrake compression it got rid of the transparent pixelated image. What video player are you using when u record with shadowplay cause vlc has a rendering feature turned on by default that makes videos look purple at first then plays normally.Idk about media player classic i haven't used it in a while. try windows media player too.

i have, but the image is so choppy and poorly rendered. Textures get that purplish, gold, and black color to them in the video. Or it will play well for a few seconds, then seem to freeze, and skip forward while still having that texture issue. And yes, i am using dxtory with a lossless codec.

Youre a genius. I do use VLC. Once i opened the video in the windows 10 "movies & tv" app, it played smooth as butter, 120fps 4k and all. That is strange, ill mess with VLC to see if i can continue to use it as my viewer still, if not, its not a big step to "open with...". Thank you so much.
