Thoughts on this ~$1500 Skylake (mainly) gaming build

I am looking to do a Z170 build in the next couple of weeks. I will mainly use this machine for gaming, as well as some development work, using Oracle VirtualBox VMs, Oracle databases, Java, and JBoss. I will most likely have 3-4 VMs. I will also be doing music recording, using Reaper and Amplitube 3.

The biggest thing I was unsure of is whether or not bumping up to the Hero VIII motherboard was work an extra $60 or so, mainly for the higher quality audio. I was also unsure about the cooler and video card, though I am pretty sure I want some type of 970 for the video card.

If anyone has any suggestions or input, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot!

All looks great except overpriced ram and the power supply is a poor one.

Very good looking build!

The only thing you could do better with is the PSU, get the EVGA G2 inestead of the NEX, it uses better internal components. Luckily it can be gotten for the same price right now:

Other than that you're golden, great hardware choices.

Its good and all, but lets face it you are wasting money
high capacity ram isn't very different from normal ram
Skylake? I mean its great for future proofing put way to expensive right now
If you want to stick with both its absolutely fine, but try to get a seasonic/xfx/Evga B2 psu

Thanks for the input. I didn't see a 750W G2 on PcPartPicker, so I am glad I asked.

Thanks everyone. I am going to go with the EVGA 750W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply and Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2666 Memory. I mainly went with the Ripjaws memory, because I have never had an issue with it in the past. I have no idea why that power supply isn't showing up for me on PcPartPicker. I also went with Skylake so I had an upgrade path, in the future, if necessary. The i7 4790K looks to be pretty close in price to the i7 6700K.

After reading more reviews, I am starting to second guess myself on the motherboard. The
GIGABYTE G1 Gaming GA-Z170N-Gaming 5 has one more egg, and the reviews seem to be more favorable than the ASUS Z170 PRO GAMING . Any thoughts between these boards, or if the ROG Hero or its Gigabyte equivalent would be a better choice?
