Hello, so yesterday I had a new graphics card put into my computer, a GTX 750 ti which was an upgrade from my GTX 750. I loaded up GTA 5 to test it out and I can't exactly pin down what it is but when I start doing "intensive" things in the game like driving fast or load in a new area something turns off and boots up again and sometimes, when it doesn't boot up it just blue screens. I also tried other, less intensive games like Skyrim and I get the same results although I shut the game down before it could blue screen. Anyone have any idea what could be wrong? I have very small knowledge on computers so any help at all would be appreciated.

My processor: i5 4440s 2.8ghz
My GPU: Asus GTX 750 ti
RAM: 8gb
PSU: not entirely sure but it says max 280 watt
Windows 7

Solution

thats the problem, you needed to get a 750 ti that runs purely off the power of the pcie slot

if you want to keep it you are going to need to upgrade your power supply

So if I just upgrade my power supply to such a level where it doesn't need the adapter I should be fine? And how come I needed one that runs purely off the PCIE slot? Any suggestions?

because it doesn't need any extra cables to run, and gets all its power needs from the pcie slot alone.

the current one you have is too much for your 280w psu

you need to upgrade your power supply to a minimum of 450w

that has a built in single 6-pin pcie cable for your video card
